On March 23rd, National Puppy Day comes to celebrate the unconditional love and affection that puppies bring to our lives. This day was created back in 2006 by Colleen Paige. This day celebrates all breeds, all shapes and sizes. The ASPCA states that approximately 3.3. Millions go into shelters yearly and a lot of them are pregnant or come in with litter of puppies. They use this day to educate people about adopting and the issues with puppy mills. Puppy mills are typically dirty, unsanitary, and harmful for the animals living in the mill that are used for breeding purposes only. Statistics show that people who have dogs and pets tend to live happier lives and live longer and end up being healthier in general.
This day also brings light to the need for care and homes for pups who have no home and as well as educate people of the horrors and the long and sometimes the hard care that puppies need. The puppies there home and love just as much as any other plus they grow into loyal companions in the future.
Celebrating this day can be done in many ways. Common ways to celebrate national puppy day are: posting social media with the #national puppy day, let you dog go to the dog park and play, take you dog for a long walk, have a national puppy party, have a puppy photoshoot, treat them to a special treat and even make homemade treats.
